Kenda Announces New Dagger XC / Trail Tires

BRR Analysis

Kenda has officially unveiled its new Dagger XC/Trail tire line, aimed at the burgeoning cross-country and light trail market. The release includes two distinct tread patterns: the Dagger Pro, designed for hard-packed, faster conditions, and the Dagger R, featuring more aggressive knobs for loose or technical terrain. Both models are available in 29-inch diameter, with widths of 2.3 and 2.4 inches, and feature Kenda's proprietary Advanced Race Compound (ARC) rubber and a 120 TPI casing.

This launch positions Kenda squarely against established competitors in the performance XC/trail category, a segment currently dominated by brands like Maxxis and Schwalbe. Kenda, with its long history in off-road tires, is clearly looking to reclaim market share by offering a modern, purpose-built option that addresses the evolving demands of contemporary XC racing and aggressive trail riding. The emphasis on specific tread patterns for varying conditions reflects a broader industry trend towards highly specialized tire choices.

While the market is saturated, Kenda's Dagger line suggests a renewed commitment to performance mountain biking. Whether these new offerings can cut through the competition and find traction with discerning riders, however, remains to be seen on the dirt.
